Is The Sun A Planet?

Simple answer: No.

Why?? Because in God's Word He tells us it is a light. It's the greater light out of the 2 He gave us. I ask then, how can it be a "planet", when that word is, of man. Answer: It is not a planet.

Let's take a closer look at a few verses again.

Not only in Genesis 1:14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. 16 Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. 17 God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 So the evening and the morning were the fourth day. (NKJV)

He tells us it is a LIGHT, in these verses and throughout others as well. The following one stuck out at me, in today's reading.

Luke 23:45 (NKJV)

45 Then the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two.

Re-read that. The sun was darkened. He told us it IS a light. So what do lights do sometimes.... "darkened". (or in other words, shut off).

As I was typing up these verses, I commonly go to Bible gateway.com for a quick reference and post here. Today, I accidentally first typed in Luke 24:45. I was about only post Ch 23 as I did above, but then thought, no there is a reason I landed on this verse too. Let's take a look.

Luke 24:45 (NKJV) 45 And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

I'll leave it right there.
